The Hunger Games

I saw The Hunger Games today and over all it was an amazing movie but there were a couple things I didn't really like about it. They're only small things but it makes a difference to me. So firstly, when Katniss finds Peeta be the river he's supposed to say "Here to finish me off sweetheart?" and the fact that they didn't put that in the movie kind of bothers me because it was honestly one of my favourite lines in te book. Secondly, the dogs are supposed to be genetically mutated and Katniss is supposed to realize that they're the dead tributes, but it never shows that and I can't speak for anyone else but I kind of thought that part was important... those are the only things that bothered me.

Hunger Games Tweets

^ That link is for all the racist tweets about Rue, Thresh and Cinna being black. As for Rue and Thresh Suzanne Collins SPECIFICALLY SAYS THAT THEY'RE BLACK.

Rue
“And most hauntingly, a twelve-year-old girl from District 11. She has dark brown skin and eyes, but other than that, she’s very like Prim in size and demeanor.”

Thresh
"The boy tribute from District 11, Thresh, has the same dark skin as Rue, but the resemblance stops there. He's one of the giants, probably six and half feet tall and built like an ox."

People said that Rue being black ruined the movie,  I honestly don't know how that's possible.

HOW?! HOW could this sweet little girl ruin the movie? In my opinion, Amandla Stenberg played Rue to perfection! Even if it didn`t say what her skin colour was I still would`ve thought that Amandla did an amazing job. I cried when Rue died and for people to say that they were less sad about her death because she was black is just sickening.

I thought Isaiah Holder Jacksoni as the role of Thresh did a very good job too.

I loved the part in the book and the movie where he saves Katniss' life because of what she did for Rue and I found the way he acted that part was great. It honestly baffles me that people could think that The Hunger Games was a bad movie because there were black people in it. It doesn't make sense AT ALL!

As for Cinna it didn't specify in the book what his race was and I'll admit that I didn't think he was balck but I wouldn't go so far as to say that the movie was bad because he was black, in fact I thought that Lenny Kravitz did a wonderful job as Cinna.

One Last Thing:

Because Amandla, Isaiah and Lenny were amazing in The Hunger Games.

Joseph Kony

When I first heard about Kony and watched the video I thought it was really horrible and I was thinking about going out on April 20th and putting up posters. But recently I've seen videos saying that Kony is dead or that he isn't in Uganda. Everyone thinks that Uganda is in this huge crisis but that doesn't seem to be the case. I think this issue should have been addressed about 20 years earlier.

Are people good or evil?

I think that most people generally try to be a good person. If they aren't it could just be that they overlook the bad things they do and think it's not a big deal. From my experience, if someone is rude most of the time they don't realize that they're being rude unless someone points it out. I've never met anyone I think would deliberately be rude.
I lost my iPod at KCI in grade 9 and the most unexpected thing happened. Someone I knew found it and asked me about it and then returned it to me the next day. So in my opinion most people do try to be a good person.

Why do poeple bully others?

I think that there are two reasons why someone would bully another person. The first reason is because they get a reaction. If one is being bullied and they get upset then then the bully will just continue to bully that person. But if someone is being bullied and shows no reaction the bully will get bored. The second reason that I think someone would bully another person is because the person they're bullying is someone that nobody likes, it makes it seem like it's not as bad because everyone is bullying that person. But that is definitely not true.

Racist Rant

Recently, two teenage girls posted a video on youtube, saying extremely racist and ignorant things about the black community. Read the article here or watch the video below.

The things they said were extremely rude and hurtful. They should be so ashamed of themselves because what they said was closeminded and completely inaccurate.
Another thing that really bothers me is that no one really said anything about the racist comments that the girl read out in the video. People were calling her a mexican that should go back to her country. Also people were telling her to go eat somes tacos, which is a mexican stereotype. It kind of surprises me that no one said anything about that. Even though those racist comments weren't nearly as bad as what these two girls said, it still shouldn't be ignored.
A youtube commenter whose username is jerryamoore111 said "She hates black people who don't do anything with their life except mooch off the system. She also hates white people, Hispanic, Asians, or anyone else who doesn't do anything with their life except mooch off the system. She likes people who are trying to do something with their life, like her black friend. How is that racist? People need to accept that there are now people in this world (like these two girls) who no longer see race. All they see is the content of a person's character." But they only kept talking about the black community, if it was just a video about people that manipulate the system in general then they wouldn't have continued to talk about black people the way they did.
One girl, from the video, said, "Not a lot of black people graduate from high school. They don't make a living for themselves. They just drop out of high school. (Mocking black people) Oh I'm gonna have kids. I'm gonna get a welfare check."
Things like that are so ignorant and totally incorrect. Sure some black people manipulate the system, but it's not like they're the only race that does.
She thinks that the black people that are on welfare spend all their money on clothing and other material goods instead of things they need. That may be right in some cases but I'll say it again: they aren't the only ones that do!
She also said, "There's black people, they're fine, they're educated, they go to school, they do what they have to do. Then there's n****rs, they can't talk right, they keep having kids, they can't get jobs. There's a difference."
She should be so ashamed of herself for saying that. It's one of the most racist things I have ever heard. She tries to say that she isn't racist and that it's just how they are, but it's not! If she opened her eyes she would see how wrong she truly is. The girl with the glasses seems to see how wrong she is now because she posted another youtube video saying how sorry she was, the video is underneath.

The people that believed her were supposed to like the video, and if they didn't; dislike it. Only 172 people liked the video. 1,339 people disliked it. Honestly, I'm not surprised because even though she didn't say much throughout the other video, what she did say was very racist.
Thenerdgirl555 commented, "its because she got death threats and kicked out of school..if she sees this here is a little note
dear b**ch who made the vid
u are stupied and u are lucky u just got kicked out because alot of people out there could of KILLED u..its called pissed off stalkers...say thank god they didnt get u...ps..im a white girl..and im ashamed for it
not with love
thenerdgirl."
So a lot of people think she's only apologizing because she recieved death threats and got kicked out of school. Honestly, I don't blame them, because I doubt she even realized how bad the video was until it ruined her life.

Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls

End of an Era is a song by Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls. I first found out about them from facebook. After the last movie came out one of my friends posted this song on her wall. I listened to it and I just loved it so I looked up other songs by them.

I like them because they're different. Not the main stream pop music. But I bet a lot of people would find this music strange and I think maybe that's just another reason why I love it. It's weird and that kind of reflects on my personality because I am far from "normal." I like being weird though, and I like listening to music that most people wouldn't appreciate.

Teenagers asking Youtube viewers to judge their looks

I think that teenagers asking youtube viewers to tell them if they're pretty or ugly is stupid. Why would you need a strangers opinion on whether you're pretty or not? Their opinion really shouldn't matter at all. Honestly, you're only as pretty as YOU think you are. In the video above, that girl contradicts herself so much. First, she says that the people that call her ugly don't even know her and that their opinion doesn't matter so she posts this video asking different people that don't know her whether they think she's pretty or not. The only thing that should matter is what you think of yourself.
